The Key Interventions in Destress (K.I.I.D.) course is for anyone and everyone that wants a fast and effective course that teaches the basics in responding to traumatic emergency events. This Course differs from the General Operations and Trauma (G.O.A.T.) course when it comes to the understanding of how interventions work and focuses more on the proper application opposed to the full scope of field and trauma care. This course can last roughly 2-4 hours and has hands on test out portions. There will be lecture mixed with hands on application throughout the course as well as time for Q&A. The course will follow the Committee of Tactical Emergency Casualty Care guidelines and outline the P.M.A.R.C.H.P. trauma assessment algorithm which focuses on Provider safety, Massive hemorrhage, Airway management, Respirations, Circulation, Head injuries, and Pain management.
The K.I.I.D. course was created to offer people or groups who do not have the time, ability, or need for a full scope course that is offered through the General Operations and Trauma G.O.A.T. course which can last 6-8 hours. The K.I.I.D. course is designed to be fast paced and only include the Key information needed to quickly save a life in the event of a trauma. Even though this class is shorter you will still learn how to apply and assess all interventions with less knowledge of "why" things work and more of "how" they work. There is less anatomy and basic wording. This is a great course to get your foot in the door and practice some effective trauma management skills that can and will enable you to save a life when needed. This course included a hands-on practical application portion for the final assessment.
